Jamaica – In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, one of the most powerful storms to ever impact Jamaica, NexusTours stands in solidarity with all those affected across the island. While the storm caused widespread damage to infrastructure and communications, the resilience and strength of the Jamaican people and the tourism community continue to inspire us all.
At NexusTours, the safety and well-being of our guests, team members, and partners remain our highest priority. We are relieved to confirm that all members of our Jamaica team are safe and accounted for, and we are deeply proud of their courage, professionalism, and dedication during this unprecedented situation.
From the first storm warnings, our teams have worked tirelessly and in close coordination with Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Vacations, WestJet Airlines, RIU.com, and other key partners to ensure the safe return of our guests. Together, we successfully organized and operated seven rescue flights—four from Kingston and three from Montego Bay—including two flights that departed before Hurricane Melissa made landfall. These coordinated efforts allowed hundreds of travelers to return home safely.
We are still working hard, hand in hand with our partners, to support our guests and ensure their safety and well-being as recovery efforts continue across the island. Our teams remain on the ground, assisting with logistics and providing ongoing care and communication to travelers and partners alike.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our hotel partners, including RIU Hotels & Resorts, transportation suppliers, and local authorities for their collaboration, flexibility, and commitment under these challenging circumstances. Their resilience and cooperation have been essential in protecting and assisting guests throughout this crisis.
